Suffolk, Virginia:
WORKING RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE WITH THREE
ADULTS INJURED
SUFFOLK, Virginia (September 3, 2022): Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the 1000 Block of
Lake Kennedy Drive, in Downtown, for a residential structure fire. Emergency Communications
dispatched the incident at 1:05 a.m.
Engine 3, Ladder 3, and Medic 3, arrived at 1:11 a.m. to find heavy fire and smoke showing
from a single story residential home. Three adults were outside the structure with injuries
related to the fire when firefighters and medics arrived. As the three adults were being
evaluated by paramedics, firefighters initiated an aggressive interior fire attack on the structure
and performed a search of the structure. All three adults were transported to a local hospital for
further care and evaluation. Firefighters were able to protect exposures, yet one additional
home was damaged by heat. No firefighters were injured. The fire was placed under control
1:57 a.m. The American Red Cross is assisting the three adults that are displaced by the fire.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office with
Fire Marshal 1 leading the investigation.
Responding units included Car 1, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Engine 3, Engine 1, Engine 2, Ladder
3, Rescue 1, Medic 3, Medic 1, EMS 1, Safety 1, Rehab 6, and Fire Marshal 1 and 3.
