On October 7, 2016, firefighters responded to South Windy Mansion Road for a reported house on fire. Chief 18 reported a visible thermal column from two miles away as companies responded. Engine 18-1 arrived with orders to start an exterior attack as secondary units arrived to go interior. Companies had the bulk of the fire knocked down in about six minutes. Crews remained on location doing salvage and overhaul while finding hidden pockets of fire. A few hours later, crews responded back to the home as the fire flared back up and was heavily involved again. Crews remained on the scene for a few hours to bring it completely under control.
