The West Atlantic City Volunteer Fire Company responded to Florence Avenue for a structure fire. West Atlantic City Chief Wallace Bakely, immediately requested a second alarm bringing mutual aid from the City of Pleasantville and the remaining Egg Harbor Township companies. The fire involved a garage, which burnt to the ground, three cars, five houses which were damaged and a shed that also burnt to the ground. The fire building was located in the middle of a congested residential neighborhood with multiple exposures. All other arriving crews were put to work knocking down the fire in the garage, shed, and vehicles or performing overhaul as surrounding residences suffered heat damage and needed to have windows and siding pulled. The cause of the fire was under investigation. Also responding were Farmington, Cardiff, Bargaintown, Scullville, Bayview (covered Farmington), Cologne (covered Cardiff), Linwood (covered Bargaintown), Somers Point (covered Scullville), EHT EMS, EHT Police, Atlantic City Electric.
