On Christmas Day 2017, the Washingtonville Fire Department was alerted for a report of a basement fire on Route 94. Upon arrival, Chief Skelly found smoke emanating from a single-story private dwelling. Further investigation revealed a fire in the basement of the building. Engine 584 stretched a line to the rear of the building. Assistant Chief Bates, the crews of 579, and Salisbury Mills firefighters conducted searches on the first floor and checked for fire extension. The crew of South Blooming Grove Engine 587 conducted secondary searches of the first floor and basement. Blooming Grove VAC and Blooming Grove PD were also on the scene.
