On August 5, 2023, the Valley Stream Fire Department hosted a parade in celebration of the Departments 125th Anniversary. The Grand Marshal of the parade was ex-Chief Richard Sullivan, a 63-year member from Engine Company 4. Members from surrounding departments along with departments as far away as Medford and Carmel also participated in the parade to show their support. Nassau Hook & Ladder Company 1 was organized in August 1898 before being combined with other companies to form the Valley Stream Fire Department. The current firehouse on South Corona Avenue, although modified to accommodate modern day apparatus, is the original firehouse used since 1901. Congratulations to the Valley Stream Fire Department and Nassau Hook and Ladder Company 1 on 125 years of service to the Village of Valley Stream!
