The Central Islip Fire Department responded to a structure fire on July 21, 2016. Second Assistant Chief Patrick Murphy was the first on scene and Chief of the Department Bob McGee arrived shortly after and assumed command. The vacant residence was fully involved and an interior attack was shortly changed to a defensive operation as the building was found to have severe structural integrity issues. Mutual aid was provided by Islip Terrace, East Brentwood and Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance. The Suffolk County Arson Squad, Islip Town Fire Marshall and PSE&G were also requested to respond. The Town of Islip provided equipment to demolish the remains of the residence.
