WORKING RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE , TWO DISPLACED

Suffolk, Virginia (June 9, 2024): Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the 100 Block of
Edgewood Ave for a residential structure fire. Emergency Communications dispatched the
incident at 3:13 a.m.

Engine 1, Engine 2, Rescue 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and EMS 1 arrived at 3:18 a.m. to find
smoke showing from a one-story detached residential structure and fire showing from a
bedroom window. Engine companies performed an interior attack while the rescue company
and ladder company performed searches. Heavy fire damage occurred to the bedroom and
extensive smoke damage occurred to the entire structure. Two adults are displaced. The fire
was placed under control at 3:43 a.m. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and
origin of the fire. Suffolk Police provided scene and traffic control. The American Red Cross is
assisting the displaced. No firefighters or citizens were injured.

Responding units included Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 6, Ladder 6,
Rescue 1, Medic 1, Medic 6, EMS1, Safety 1, Rehab 6, Fire Marshal 6.
