Thousands of first responders lined the blocks around Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Inwood on December 31, 2014, for the funeral of Firefighter Joseph Sanford, Jr., who was fatally injured while battling a house fire on December 23, 2013. Sanford was a 17-year veteran of the department and a former assistant fire chief. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. May he look down upon us and guide us from the floor above.
