On April 18, 2017, the Totowa Fire Department was dispatched to a reported dumpster fire between two homes on Boyle Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large dumpster filled with construction debris well involved, with extension to both homes, and live electrical wires down in the street. A second alarm was requested and command advised the second-due engine to establish a water supply and go in service with their master stream. Mutual aid was requested to the scene from Paterson, Wayne and Woodland Park. Handlines were stretched into both homes and command reported the main body of the fire was knocked down with extensive overhaul required.
