7.5.2022 – At 7:39 pm Louisville firefighters were dispatched to a commercial structure fire at S. 31st Street and River Park Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene in 1 minute to find a working fire in an 40,000 square foot vacant commercial warehouse.
The size of the building, contents within the building, limited access, and heavy volume of fire were a few of the challenges fire crews endured. Additional crews were dispatched to assist. A three-alarm response, with nearly 100 firefighters and over 30 firefighting apparatus were eventually required to fight the blaze, bringing the fire under control within one hour of arriving on scene.
The main fire building is a total loss. Two neighboring properties to the east of the main fire building sustained significant damage. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced occupants.
Three firefighters were injured on scene and transported to a local hospital for observation. No civilian injuries were reported. Fire crews will remain at the scene throughout the evening. LFD Arson Investigators are working to determine a cause.
