WORKING RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE ON FERRY POINT ROAD: THREE DISPLACED

SUFFOLK, Virginia (June 5, 2024): Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the 6500 Block of Ferry
Point Road for a residential structure fire. Emergency Communications dispatched the incident
at 6:14 p.m.

Engine 9 and Medic 9 arrived at 6:19 p.m. to find heavy fire in the kitchen of a two-story
residential structure. Engine companies performed an aggressive interior attack while the
ladder companies and rescue company performed searches. Heavy fire damage occurred to
the kitchen area and extensive smoke damage occurred to the entire structure. Two adults and
one child were displaced. Eighteen cats were in the residence at the time of the fire. Six cats
were resuscitated by firefighters and paramedics. One cat deceased as a result of the fire. The
Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. The fire was placed under
control at 6:51 p.m. Suffolk Police provided scene and traffic control. The American Red Cross
is assisting the displaced. No firefighters or citizens were injured.
