On December 6, 2016, the Teaneck Fire Department responded to a house fire. Engine 2 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing from a 1-1/2 story frame dwelling, and located heavy fire in the basement. A second alarm was requested, bringing mutual aid from Hackensack, Englewood and Bogota, and additional mutual aid for cover. Several handlines were put into operation as heavy smoke was showing from the eaves, windows and roof. Interior units reported fire traveling the walls and fire briefly broke out from the front porch ceiling but was quickly knocked down. The main body of fire was knocked down in just over 30 minutes. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire was believed to be a faulty electrical breaker panel in the basement.
