Recently, Schenectady firefighters were called out to battle a two- alarm fire in the Hamilton Hill section of the city. Multiple calls were received for a vacant structure with smoke and flames visible. Upon arrival, flames were seen venting from an attic window. Crews were sent inside but were soon evacuated due to the heavy fire conditions in the attic. A tower ladder with master streams and several large diameter handlines were used to control the blaze. The building was torn down the next day. The cause was considered suspicious.
