Early on April 16, 2015, Yonkers Dispatch received numerous calls for a house fire on Rider Avenue near the city’s northern border. Units arrived to find the home’s occupants had climbed out a second floor window and jumped from the front porch roof to escape the fire. Within minutes, the house was fully involved and soon after, a total loss. This was the first of four working fires that day in the city.
