On November 21, 2016, the Rochelle Park Fire Department responded for reports of a working car fire at Harvey Avenue and W. Passaic Street. Upon arrival of E-1 and T-1, a fully involved SUV was found burning in the driveway of a house with the fire extending to the adjacent vinyl fence and the garage door. A handline was stretched and put into operation, quickly knocking down the bulk of the fire and preventing any extension into the home. Quick work by the firefighters limited the damage to the vehicle, the fencing, the outside of the home, as well as the electrical and phone lines. Fortunately, the owner of the vehicle said she was going to pull into her garage but smelled something and decided not to.
