The Sleepy Hollow Fire Department responded to a reported explosion and fire in a large three-story, wood frame apartment building located on North Washington Street. Upon arrival they were faced with a significant wind-driven fire that was showing from several areas on the upper floor and roof. Crews attempted an interior attack but were forced out as the fire rapidly began to consume the structure. Several area departments were requested to the scene, ultimately bringing the blaze under control with the use of multiple master streams. Several people were left homeless after the fire.
