On June 23, 2015, a driver poorly navigated a sharp turn on Douglas Pike, drove through a fence and came to rest alongside an embankment of the Branch River. Burrillville Police Officers were first on scene to attempt to stabilize the vehicle and the driver. Members from Stations 1 and 3 utilized ropes and chains to secure the vehicle from sliding further into the river. EMTs gained access once the vehicle was secured. The driver was extricated via backboard and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
