Gene Schubert, a 45-year life member of the Selden Fire Department and a US Navy veteran answered his last alarm. The members of the Selden Fire Department, led by Chief Michael Matteo and Chaplin Peter Cincotta, honored their brother Gene at Calverton National Cemetery on September 23, 2016.
Gene started his career as a member of Heavy Rescue Company 4 before finishing his service as a senior active Company 6 member.
