On April 21, 2023, Duplin County 911 Communications dispatched Sarecta Volunteer Fire Department and North Carolina Forestry Service (NCFS) to South Williams Road for a woods fire. Sarecta units arrived and found a fast moving, high-wind-driven fire in a large block of woods with several structures endangered. Beulaville, Kenansville and Potters Hill were dispatched to assist with water supply, and manpower. NCFS also requested air support for water drops. Duplin County EMS responded for firefighter rehab, and the Duplin County Fire Marshal also responded to assist with obtaining resources for units on scene. After about four hours of structural protection, cutting fire breaks, and water drops the fire was finally contained. There was no damage to property and no injuries reported.
