On April 6, 2019, a funeral was held for former Rockville Centre Mayor Eugene J. Murray who passed away on April 2, 2019, at the age of 93. Murray, the father of current Mayor Francis Murray, owned a floor waxing service in town for many years, was very active in the community and served over 60 years with the Rockville Centre Fire Department. He served in the chief’s office from 1977 to 1983. His funeral was held at St. Agnes Cathedral. Eugene is survived by his many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
