In the early morning hours of November 1, 2023, the Roosevelt Fire Department, along with mutual aid companies, operated at a well involved house fire on Catlin Avenue off West Centennial Avenue. Firefighters put multiple handlines and at least one master stream into operation to extinguish the fire which began in the basement of the two-story private dwelling before extending to the floors above. All occupants made it safely out of the residence. The fire was not deemed suspicious, and the cause was believed to be incense burning in the basement that extended to a mattress. Roosevelt First Assistant Chief Patrick Dawkins had command.
