On June 6, 2016, the Bay Shore Fire Department responded to a house fire on Bayway Avenue in the Village of Brightwaters. After a quick size up Bay Shore Chief Ippolito determined that most of the fire was in the attic of the row of condo style homes. Crews of Engine 311 and Truck 314 quickly went to work, knocking down the fast moving fire, and holding it to one unit with no extension to attached condos. Mutual aid was provided by West Islip, Islip and Kismet. Also on scene were Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, Islip Town Fire Marshals Office, SCFRES DCFC, and the SCPD.
