On May 25, 2016, the St. James Fire Department was activated for a heavy rescue MVA on Lake Avenue. Captain Danny Keegan of Rescue 9 was first to arrive and found the driver still inside the vehicle, trapped by a load of wood, which penetrated the cab of a pickup. Unified Command was initiated between Suffolk Police, Keegan and Ambulance Captain Kinzie and the work to free the victim started. Great work by both St. James and SCPD in extricating the victim and transporting him to Stony Brook University Hospital.
