On November 20, 2016, the West Haverstraw Fire Department, along with automatic mutual aid from the Stony Point for a FAST, battled a fire in a basement apartment of a single-floor dwelling on Wall Street. The fire was quickly knocked down, and kept to the room of origin. The fire was believed to be accidental and was under investigation.
