Director Anthony V. LaFerrera

Chief Anthony Vincent LaFerrera began his fire service career with the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company in March of 1979. Assigned to Station #2, LaFerrera moved through the ranks of line officer and served as captain from 1986-1989. He was elected 3rd assistant chief in 1990 and chief in 1994 and 1995. LaFerrera still serves on the executive board as a trustee and is also a past president of the fire company. Additionally, he is a past-President to the Town of Babylon Fire Chief’s Association and Fire Chiefs’ Council of Suffolk County. LaFerrera currently serves as 2nd Vice President of the Town of Babylon Fire Official’s Association and chairman of the Suffolk County Fire and Rescue Services Commission. He has been a member of the NYSAFC since 1990 and has served on the Communications Committee and Annual Conference Committee Administration Sub-Committee, assisting in registration at the Annual Conference and FIRE Expo. LaFerrera is a retired FDNY EMS Lieutenant. He has been married to his wife, Dorothy, since 1983, and they have one daughter, Holly Marie.

Director James E. Hare

Chief Jim Hare started with the Hilton Fire Department Explorer’s program in 1974. He became a firefighter in 1975 and held the office of Chief from 1996-1998. Hare also served as President of the department from 2014-2015. He served as President of the Monroe County Fire Chiefs Association from 2007-2008. Additionally, he is an EMT, a HazMat tech with the Monroe County HazMat Team, and a code enforcement officer. Hare has worked with the youth in the Hilton Fire Department Explorer Program for 41 years and joined with the members of other Monroe County fire departments to create countywide training programs for youth in the fire service. He has been recognized by Monroe County and the Hilton Fire Department for his dedication to the fire service and was honored with two County Meritorious Awards. The first was for dedication of service for work in fire prevention and leadership, and the second was for dedication of service with county youth programs. Hare has been a member of NYSAFC since 1983. He began working on the Annual Conference Committee Programs Sub-Committee in 2010, served as Sergeant-at-Arms, and most recently served on the Exhibits Sub-Committee. He has also actively supported the Government Affairs Committee.
