Recently, Gettysburg Fire Department along with EMS was alerted for an auto accident on York Street in Gettysburg Borough. Ambulance 54 arrived and reported a pickup truck into a building, with the truck on its side, heavy entrapment, on fire and the building collapsing. The assignment was upgraded to a full structural response. Chief Hurshel Shank had command. An hour-and-25-minute extrication was required to free the lone occupant of the truck. Several rescue tools and techniques were utilized, as well as rigging the overturned truck to the fire engine for stabilization. York County ATR team was dispatched to assist on scene, as well.
