On the afternoon of August 28, 2016, Stations 1 and 27, 4 and 24, and 26 were alerted to a multi-residential fire on Vincent Circle in Middletown Village. Unit 27-8 arrived to smoke showing from three of five units, and immediately alerted mutual aid departments. Multiple hydrants were used and multiple handlines were put in service as Tower 27 prepared to flow water. Departments from New Castle County, Kent County; and Cecil County and Kent County, Maryland; worked diligently to attack the fire. High ambient heat played a factor and three firefighters had to be checked out by ALS and BLS units, with two being transported to a local hospital; all were cleared. Volunteer Hose would like to thank the mutual aid departments from Townsend, Odessa, Port Penn, Delaware City, Christiana, Newark, Smyrna, Clayton, Lepsic, Cecilton, Chesapeake City, Galena, New Castle County Paramedic 5, Middletown Police Department, Delaware State Fire Marshal, and the Red Cross. They would also like to thank those in the community that responded with water and cold drinks.
