Winslow Township units were alerted to a fire at the Johns Manville plant in their first- due area. Units arrived to find the warehouse section of the building on fire. The fire grew to six alarms in the first 24 hours and lasted for a total of 123 hours. Access to the burning material was difficult because the stability of the product in the warehouse was compromised. Also, the water supply for the property malfunctioned, requiring several tender strike teams to be dispatched. Units from as far away as Edison responded to assist. Local and State Fire Marshals were investigating.
