Mount Vernon firefighters were dispatched to Gramatan Avenue for a fire on the first floor in a McDonald’s which sat inside a three-story mixed-use building. On arrival, companies found heavy smoke showing from the McDonald’s, as well as smoke and fire showing from the roof of the building. Companies quickly put lines into operation and were able to knock down the fire. Crews found the fire extended up the duct work of the building to the roof. Firefighters knocked down the fire in the duct work, putting the fire under control soon after.
