It is with true sadness that the Massapequa Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Thomas Ward who was a 32-year member of Engine Co 1. Tom lost his long fight with COVID-19 on April 26, 2020.
Tom was Supervisor of Mechanics at the FDNY Ambulance Shop and served the Bureau of Fleet Services for 26 years. For many years Tom was Santa Claus at the Massapequa Fire Department West End Christmas events.
A funeral was held on May 12, 2020, with a large turnout of firefighters and fellow workers and officials from the FDNY. Tom’s quiet and friendly personality will be missed.
