Crews battle a 4- Alarm fire at 2200 Westbend Parkway.
Firefighters Respond to Fourth Alarm Fire in Algiers New Orleans: On Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1:04 am, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a 911 call for 2200 Westbend Pkwy in Algiers. The first fire companies arrived on the scene at 1:10 am to the Oakmount Apartments finding a large vacant apartment complex with two sections of apartments fully engulfed in fire. As embers from the flames spread to additional sections, a Second Alarm was called at 1:13 am. Firefighters fought the dense smoke and flames as they rescued several vagrants still in the complex and unable to find their way through the smoke. Firefighters worked on extinguishing the first two sections of apartments as they collapsed, but not before spreading to four other apartment sections. A Third Alarm was called at 1:16 am with a Fourth Alarm called at 2:02 am. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation. New Orleans Police, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services and Entergy responded to this incident.
