On April 10, 2015, a young man called Rensselear County fire control reporting smoke coming from the roof of a home along Route 150 as a result of a lightning strike. When the chief arrived he found the family still inside, and unaware of the fire. He called for mutual aid from Best Luther, Hoags Corners, Defreestville, Schodack and Wynantskill. A strong wind spread flames across the roof with a drop down to the first floor. Water volume became a problem, and a water site was set up at a small creek about a half mile away. The building eventually collapsed, and was a total loss.
