On November 29, 2016, Lawrence (MA) firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire on East Haverhill Street. E5, E6, E7, L5, R1 and C21 Deputy Kennedy responded. On arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke showing from a large 2-1/2 story wood frame and a second alarm was requested. Fire crews attempted an aggressive interior attack but the fire had already extended and gained control of the dwelling. A decision was made to evacuate. It took firefighters several hours to bring the fire under control. One firefighter and one civilian were injured and transported to Lawrence General Hospital. Several area departments provided mutual aid at the fire and for coverage.
