Near midnight on June 18, 2015, Laurel, Blades and Seaford were alerted for a house fire in the area of King  and E. Sixth Streets. Fire Chief Keith Lecates went on scene and reported heavy smoke showing from the attic area.

Captain Mike Lowe responded as 81 Command and arrived with Chief Lecates acting as Operations Officer. Engine 81-3 stretched a five-inch supply line and made entry into the front door with Assistant Chief Tim West being interior Officer. Tower 81 set up on the A / D corner. Units arriving from Seaford were assigned exposures on the King Street side. Blades arriving units established water supply to Tower 87.  Blades crews were also assigned RIT. Command requested an additional engine company from Delmar to establish a manpower pool.

Evac tones were activated and the attack was moved to a defensive strategy as the roof began to look unstable. Crews from 81-5 wtih Assistant Chief Brett Morris were assigned to the C side.  Assistant Chief Rob Givens was assigned as Safety Officer. Crews were able to protect exposures, and the fire was contained to the area of involvement.  No injuires were reported with Laurel and Delmar EMS crews along with SCEMS 102 establishing Rehab. Sharptown transferred an Engine to Laurel’s station for stand-by. The fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
