Greenville, Kentucky
September 11th, 2001 is a solemn day ingrained into every firefighter throughout the country. On that day 343 firefighters lost their lives performing the largest rescue in history. To honor the lives of those who perished that day, recruits climbed 110 flights of stairs, symbolizing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Each recruit carried the name and photo of each individual firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice that day, until every one of them were placed at the top.
