Waterbury Fire arrived on a reported structure fire on West Grove Street to find a well involved vacant 2-1/2 story wood frame. With no exposures in close proximity a decision was made to take a defensive posture due to the poor structural integrity of the dwelling, which has been a haven for drug traffic and vagrants. The building eventually collapsed making it impossible to overhaul, and an engine company remained on scene until late the next morning to take fire watch and extinguish any flare ups.
