Harrison FMBA Local 22 held their first Junior Firefighter Day on October 29, 2016, at Library Park. The event was packed from the moment it started. Firefighters planned this event for Harrison’s children using their own money and donations. There was free hot dogs and candy, the ‘stop, drop and roll’ station, a smoke-filled tent, a hose station where the kids got to squirt a real fire hose, face painting, the ability to don fire gear and, of course, all the kids got to look at and sit in the apparatus. The firefighters would like to thank Laura Alicia, Vincent Alicia, and Brittany Reynolds for donating their time and supplies for the face painting. They would also like to thank the following companies: A&J Seabra of Harrison, RP Baking of Harrison, Walmart of Kearny, Shoprite of Kearny, and Carlo’s Bakery of Hoboken. The day of the event the Harrison/East Newark Elks donated $500 to the cause. Local 22 is already starting to plan next year’s event.
