This summer, the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund sponsored a full day of training for Long Island junior firefighters at the Morrelly Center in Bethpage and at the Bay Shore Fire Department. Despite the high heat and humidity, over 125 students participated in the events and were trained by an outstanding group of firefighters. The classes were taught by FDNY members and Fire Instructors with more than 100 years of combined experience. Thanks to Eddie Tucker, Pete Maslinski, Tony Srour, Brendan Cawley, Mike Dugan, Vinny Brinisi, Todd Smith, Mike Perrone, Richie Schmidt, John Loeber, Mike Milner, Ray Griffin and Chris Solimine (Suffolk County Fire Academy), who donated their time to teach the future members of the fire service. A special thanks to Frank Ceglio of the Bethpage Fire Department, who also donated his time to the kids, and for helping out with the logistics. The kids all walked away with a huge amount of knowledge and also learned that training can be fun. Training never stops! Plan on attending next year’s Junior training in 2017.
