On February 22, 2017, the Goshen Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to Reeds Beach Road for an early-morning structure fire. Chief 7400 was responding and could see the flames, and requested mutual aid from Station 73, 72 and 18.  On arrival he requested a second alarm for tankers since the fire was in a non-hydrant community. The fire was brought under control in 45 minutes, but consumed two boats, a house and a shed. Middle Township Public Works used a backhoe to pull the house apart so fire trapped between the voids when the house collapsed could be accessed. Also responding were crews from Stone Harbor, Oceanview, Erma, Villas and Belleplain, along with Middle Township Police and the Cape May County Fire Marshals Office.
