Hazmat technicians from the Chagrin/Southeast Hazmat Team evaluated damage on an overturned DOT407 tank truck on State Route 306 in Russell Township (Geauga County) on January 2, 2024. The tanker contained environmentally hazardous waste when it left the road and struck utility poles and overturned. Multiple police and fire departments worked together for over 11 hours to resolve the incident. Also assisting were several utility companies, clean-up contractors, PUCO, OEPA, OSP, USEPA and others. No chemicals from the trailer were lost. The product was transferred to another tanker. About 275 gallons of diesel was also recovered from the ground after a breach of both saddle tanks.
