A late night fire ravaged the Getty Square area of Yonkers, centered on South Broadway on October 22, 2015. The blaze engulfed a row of stores and threatened the adjacent St. John’s Episcopal Church. The church was in serious jeopardy of catching fire but was saved by the valiant efforts of Yonkers firefighters. Units remained on the scene well into the morning hours.
