On the evening of September 28, 2016, a call of a barn fire on Tobin Road came in at the Henrietta Fire District. Crews from the career and volunteer stations responded. On arrival they found a well involved large shed with exposure to the back of the main house and another small building. Due to the rural area, engines had to lay 1,400 feet of five-inch hose to the nearest hydrant. Once the fire was extinguished and hot spots were taken care of, a persistent fire in the center of a nearby tree also was worked upon, but despite numerous attempts, the tree had to be cut down to extinguish the fire. Neighboring departments Scottsville and Rush Fire Departments were called for standby as well as HFD career call backs. Thanks to the West Henrietta Ladies Auxiliary that supplied refreshments for the firefighters at the scene.
