A suspicious fire broke out in a vacant house on Mill Road, between Teller Avenue and W. Yaphank Road, late on July 3, 2017. Gordon Heights Fire Chief Chesley Ruffin was passing by and noticed smoke and flames emanating from the vacant structure. The Coram Fire Department responded and mutual aid came from Middle Island, Gordon Heights and Medford. Suffolk County Police Arson Squad was also called to the scene.
