The Medford Fire Department was activated for a residential structure fire on Heather Avenue. FRES dispatch took multiple calls from neighbors reporting visible smoke and flames from the home. Upon arrival, units were met with heavy fire conditions to the rear of the structure. Mutual aid was brought in from Gordon Heights, Coram, Yaphank and Holtsville. The fire was quickly knocked down by first-due crews despite the fire load, and several pets were removed to safety. No serious injuries were reported. Command requested a fire marshal to the scene for an investigation.
