A tractor trailer truck loaded with compressed natural gas struck a narrow railroad bridge and burst into flames on Maple Avenue. Flames initially shot 40 feet into the air, shaking nearby houses and flooding dispatch with phone calls. An airport crash truck from neighboring Stratton Air National Guard Base was sent to the scene to help control the blaze. The driver self-extricated and was taken to Westchester Burn Center for treatment.
