On June 9, 2016, Box 46-2 dispatched Company 46 (Hummelstown), Engines 45 (Rutherford), 47-1 (South Hanover), Rescue 88 (Middletown), Tankers 47 (South Hanover), 59 (Lower Swatara), and Air 48 (Hershey) to S. Railroad Street for a reported barn on fire. Chief 46 went on location and reported a working fire involving a garage that extended to an unattached, two-story house. Companies led off in defensive mode using handlines, blitz fire, and a master stream from Truck 46. Firefighters battled the blaze for about 45 minutes before the fire was knocked down and overhaul operations initiated. No injuries were reported and three residents were left homeless.
