On March 14, 2017, Fultonville firefighters were called out to battle a three-alarm fire at the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church on Montgomery Avenue at the height of Winter Storm Stella, which buried the region in over 12 inches of snow. Buried hydrants and snow clogged streets made it difficult to save the wood frame church. A ladder from the Fort Johnson and units from surrounding areas responded, as well. The church was totally destroyed.
