STRUCTURE FIRE: 3 – STORY 4 – UNIT TOWNHOME COMPLEX FIRE

On May 15, 2022, at 12:40 p.m., the Aurora Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of Hudson
Circle for a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a 3-story 4-unit townhome complex with
heavy fire showing from the rear of the complex. Because the fire was rapidly spreading to the attic and
roof, the Battalion Chief upgraded to a 2nd then 3rd alarm bringing a total of 42 firefighters to the scene.
The Engine Companies quickly deployed multiple hose lines to the exterior and interior of the structure
while the Truck Company searched for victims and fire extension. The attic became heavily involved
with fire, so a Truck Company was ordered to use their master stream. All interior fire crews were
called out of the building before the master stream was put into operation. After the fire in the attic was
extinguished, fire companies resumed interior operations.

The unit where the fire originated and one adjacent unit were deemed uninhabitable, displacing four
adults and one child. Victim Services and the Red Cross were called to assist the occupants of the
adjoining unit. The occupants of the unit where the fire started had plans to stay with family and
friends. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians, and the cause of the fire is under investigation
at this time.
