WORKING RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE ON WEBB STREET WITH ONE INJURED

SUFFOLK, Virginia (March 9, 2024): Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the 300 Block of
Webb Street for a residential structure fire. Suffolk Emergency Communications Dispatch
Center dispatched the incident at 2:05 a.m.

Engine 3, Ladder 3 and Medic 3 arrived at 02:08 a.m. to find heavy fire and smoke showing
from the single story detached residential structure. The house next to the home on fire was
also on fire. Crews performed an aggressive attack on the fire and prevented the home next to
the residence from receiving additional fire damage. Crews performed searches of the
residence and the fire was placed under control at 03:01 a.m. One occupant was transported to
an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No injuries to firefighters, other citizens or
occupants. The American Red Cross is assisting one occupant that is displaced.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Responding units included Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Car 1, Car 7, Engine 3, Engine 1, Engine 2,
Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Medic 1, Medic 3, EMS1, Safety 1, Fire Marshal 5, and Suffolk Police.
