FDNY HOLDS FIRE OFFICERS PROMOTION CEREMONY

Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh presided at the promotion ceremony of 5 Deputy Chiefs, 17
Battalion Chiefs, 25 Captains, 60 Lieutenants and 24 Fire Marshals on Friday, September 2nd at the
Christian Cultural Center, 12020 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn.

“There is no greater responsibility in the FDNY than to step up as a leader, committing to not only carry out the
lifesaving mission of the agency, but to mentor, coach and keep safe the men and women on the front lines.
There is an exceptionally high bar for leadership in the FDNY, following the example set by legendary and
battle tested leaders, while also being the example of professionalism and respect that every Fire Department in
the world seeks to emulate.  This new group of Deputy Chiefs, Battalion Chiefs, Captains, Lieutenants and Fire
Marshals have met that challenge, and I commend them on their commitment to New Yorkers and to the
Department. We are excited to welcome the next generation of leaders to the FDNY,” said Acting
Commissioner Kavanagh.

The new Fire Officers will be assigned to firehouses throughout the city.
